Pinkeye in dogs or
simply canine pinkeye ( this include both cats and dogs) and can be contagious to both to human depending on
the causative agent.
A viral pinkeye in dogs
not contagious to human, usually seen as goopy or bloodshot eye, swollen eye
and seeing a dog rubbing the eye is not contagious to human a, you know the human
body and dog are not the same , there it is not contagious to human . Dog
pinkeye in other hand is contagious to other dogs. Therefore the infected dog
should be isolated and treated to prevent the spread.
On the other hand a
bacterial conjunctivitis in dogs is contagious to a human and other dogs, the
caused by a bacteria like strepcoccus, and staphylococcus , this bacteria are
the same that causes pinkeye eye in human, therefore this bacteria when they
are spread to human they can therefore causes pinkeye to human. Bacterial pinkeye
is contagious by air between dogs and humans, direct contact and discharge from
dogs eye etc, therefore if you see sign of bacterial pinkeye in dogs which discharge
of green or yellowish liquid, be hygienic and consult your pet vet doctor.
An allergic conjunctivitis
cause by dust, dander, fur, pollen from weed and trees can also cause allergic
pinkeye in docks. This type is not contagious to human and other dogs, it
seasonal during the windy winter season or hay-season.
This type can be
treated using cold compress, artificial tears, antihistamine drugs, steroids
eye drops and anti-inflammatory drugs. Viral pinkeye in dogs can be treated by

Therefore viral pinkeye
is contagious to other dogs but not to human, bacterial is contagious to both human
and other dogs, , allergic not contagious to both human and other dogs.
