| Bacterial pinkeye , very contagious |
There are three
type of pinkeye, the bacterial, viral and
the allergic conjunctivitis.
The bacterial is contagious only after the
symptoms started to appear, before the symptoms appear, it is not contagious and will continue to be
contagious until 24 hour after the antibiotics is used.
A viral conjunctivitis is contagious even
before the symptoms present, therefore a viral pinkeye can be contagious even
during the incubation period. An antibiotics cannot treat this type of conjunctivitis,
but an antiviral can be used.
An allergic conjunctivitis,
this type is not contagious at all, it
is the type of conjunctivitis caused by
allergen or untreated health condition, that trigger the pinkeye
symptoms ( some health conditions have pinkeye symptoms) the best cure for this
is to remove the allergen or to clear the condition causing the pinkeye.
Pinkeye due to irritant:
chemicals from substance like soap, detergent, shampoo etc can trigger pinkeye
in individuals.
therefore bacterial pinkeye is contagious only
after the symptom resurface and it will continue to be spread from one
individuals to another unless after 24 hours after an antibiotics is used.
Viral pinkeye is contagious, it spread from
one person to another through direct contact, airborne droplets , it generally
contagious and last as long as the symptoms remain on the patient. Allergic conjunctivitis
is not contagious likewise irritant induced conjunctivitis is not contagious
either.
This eye infections are airborne, therefore
people having this should isolate themselves, avoid direct contact with other
individuals,, their secretion coughed or sneezed out should be disposed properly,
hygiene should be their priority.
