why does my dog's eyes water all the time

Before we go into the causes of watery eyes in dogs let us 1^st  see what is a watery eye.

Watery ye is the  tears over-secretion or production of the eye,  it is the opposite of dry eye, where there is inadequate tears to lubricate the eye, here in watery eye , the tears is over-produce,

 There are many cause of  watery eye  in dogs  Below are some of the causes

·        Allergies : these are foreign bodies  that got in the eye and cause it to have allergic reaction, these substance are called allergens,  they could be dust particle, pollen  grains from trees weeds or flowers, fur or dander, chemical can also cause allergic reaction in the eye,  this  allergens cause  an irritation in the eye  and this result in  reaction like inflammation, tears over-secretion etc.

·        Blocked tear duct: tear duct is a gland in the eye that drain away tears from the eye, if this gland is block the tears will come directly in to the eye ,  we can say in other word this tear duct regulate the teas secretion and releases  this tears on “demand” ( when crying , to repel allergens , to lubricate the eye etc.) but if this is blocked then the tears are released uncontrollably .

·        Irritation of the conjunctiva or cornea, conjunctiva is a membrane of the eye , any irritations of the conjunctiva through conjunctivitis, irritants such as chemical , and allergies can cause  watery eye.

·        Hay fever: a common cause of  itchy eye and watery eye is the hay –fever

Eye pain, watery discharge and eye twitch are some of the symptoms of watery eyes,  the best solution is to seek an advice from a vet doctor as some time watery eye are nothing but a symptoms of other eye infection, thereby it is recommended to treat your dogs before it escalate to other things
