period.
1st of all a

one caused by presence of irritant in the eye cannot be contagious.
I can say YES and NO.
Yes, if the pinkeye is
viral and no if the pink symptom appear , this could be from few days to about
some weeks,,
While for a bacterial pinkeye, this type of pinkeye can only be contagious
during the incubation period of the bacteria.
How do you know a pinkeye is viral or bacterial
A viral pinkeye has the
symptoms like eye redness, swellings ,
itching and liquid discharge but what the liquid is not sticky or thick, not greenish
or yellowish in color .
Whereas in a bacterial
pinkeye, the color and the thickness of the different, a mucus discharge from
is sticky and yellowish or greenish in color, see the photo below.
An allergic pinkeye is
not contagious in anyway, it has no incubation period, it just an reaction due
to irritation of the eye, when dust, pollen from trees, flowers and weeds
landed , fur or dander get into the eye,
the eye try to remove them by shading more tears, it can also be a symptom of
another diseases affecting the body.
Only a viral pinkeye is
contagious before the symptoms resurface , this type of pinkeye cannot be
treated with antibiotics, in fact it has no treatment but will go with eye.

time.
